Thank you to everyone who voted for change in our Union! Although the results are not exactly what we would have hoped for, this campaign has been a success in many ways:
Our VPs for Grievances won! Congratulations to Keumjae Park and Joe Spagna! Having our caucus represented on the Union Executive Board gives us even more legitimacy and a voice in Union decision-making. We will support them as they work hard for all Union members!
The voting results show that a significant number of Union members want real change in our Union. Our candidates received over 46% of the overall vote. More than one-third of Union members voted to support our vision and goals. We are too large to be ignored!
This campaign has also meant that for the first time in many years our Union members have been able to have real conversations about the direction of our Union. We’ll make sure these conversations continue to take place.
Our fight for a more democratic, member-driven Union continues. Together, we will ensure that our Union is a place where all members have a voice and where fair elections occur regularly as the hallmark of democracy and member involvement. Our work continues!
